Dream, March 12, 2012 transworld passport photo

Dream, home, 5:03 am

Shooting the photo for my next passport. The photographer has been given many complicated instructions to keep in compliance with the government. A distorting lens corrects the intention distortion of a mirror. My Niece must stand just behind my shoulder. Tubular blocks must be stacked in the foreground. We must make a series of faces before our expressions can fall into a repose.

The resulting picture – gray scale digital – has both my niece and I slack-jawed and appearing toothless. The print displayed to us by the photographer shows something of a double exposure so that two fractions of a second are layered on each other, giving a slight sense of movement.
